This is the second consecutive day that the Vietnam Air Force has conducted a drill in the sky of Ho Chi Minh City in preparation for the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, which will take place officially on April 30, 2025.
At about 8:15 a.m., Su-30MK fighter jets, Yak-130 multi-purpose training jets, Mi-171, Mi-8-8 helicopters, etc. took off from Bien Hoa and Dong Nai airports towards the center of Ho Chi Minh City.
The aircraft practiced squading, practiced at different altitudes and from the Thu Duc City airspace, moved into District 1, lowered the performance altitude according to the flight. Then, exit the central area of Ho Chi Minh City in the area of Bach Dang wharf - Saigon River - Thu Thiem.
As soon as it reached the central area of Ho Chi Minh City, the plane fleet attracted the attention of many people. Mr. Nguyen Tuan Kiet, living in Binh Thanh, said he was very surprised when he was on the road when he saw a plane crash through the sky. "I had to squeeze the car right at the side to get my phone back at the moment the plane passed by. It's really great," he said.
Previously, on the morning of March 27, the Vietnam Air Force also conducted an exercise in the city center, from An Phu (Thu Duc City) down to the Saigon River and then to Dinh Doc Lap.
In the central area of Ho Chi Minh City, the plane was at an altitude of 350-400m, going out to the riverbank in Ben Bach Dang without being entangled with buildings that had dropped to about 200m.
In the proposed plan, the aircraft will travel twice around the central area of Ho Chi Minh City and then return to Bien Hoa and Dong Nai.
