According to records, Le Kha Phieu Street (formerly National Highway 1), from An Lac roundabout (Binh Tan district) to Binh Dien bridge (Binh Chanh district) has become a traffic hotspot.
The stream of motorbikes and cars of all kinds moved slowly, while at intersections, vehicles were congested, causing traffic difficulties.
Mr. Danh Minh Du (from Vinh Long) was riding a motorbike carrying his wife and young child back to his hometown and shared: "On Tet holidays like this, the crowded roads are fun, but traffic jams are very tiring. I hope the whole family gets home safely and without serious traffic jams."
Similarly, many families carrying luggage on motorbikes expressed concern about having to travel on crowded roads. Some said they had planned to leave early in the morning to avoid rush hour, but the sudden increase in traffic still made the journey longer than expected.
To reduce traffic pressure on Le Kha Phieu Street, Tan Tuc and An Lac Traffic Police have organized many teams to stand guard at important intersections.
In addition to traffic flow, authorities also adjusted traffic lights, increasing green light time for vehicles traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to the West.
To avoid traffic jams, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has suggested 5 routes from Ho Chi Minh City to the Western provinces during Tet.
