Revival from the mud of natural disasters
The historic flood at the end of October 2025 left an unhealed scar on the people of Ha Nha commune (Da Nang City). When the river rose and turned red, the houses that were originally the only shelter for poor workers collapsed in the blink of an eye. Mr. Nguyen Hy Vong (Truong An village, Ha Nha commune), a freelance young man, still has not forgotten the moment his house was knocked down: "My house was already old, encountered a water surge of more than 2 meters, flooded deeper than imagined, so it collapsed completely. When the flood receded, looking at the pile of broken bricks and muddy soil, I thought this Binh Ngo Tet, my child and I must live in a makeshift situation.
If there were no rapid decisions, hundreds of people would not have a real home to celebrate Tet. In that context, the "Quang Trung rapid" campaign has been activated, bringing hope of revival from the rubble.
According to the Prime Minister's direction, the deadline to complete the construction and repair of houses for people to celebrate Tet is January 15, 2026. However, in Da Nang, with the spirit of "overcoming sun and rain", the army and police forces of the city have completed the campaign 5 days earlier than expected.
Da Nang City Police have proactively undertaken and completed repairs and new construction of 271/505 houses, accounting for 53.6% of the total workload of the whole city.
Participating in this campaign, the police officers are not only security and order guards, but they have transformed into professional welders. Sergeant Vo Van Loc - officer of Detention Center No. 1, his hands stained with calluses from carrying bricks - smiled brightly: "We are determined to do all the work, not all the time. Seeing people's houses getting taller every day, all fatigue disappears.
Not only contributing labor, the police force also mobilized funds to support people in the Central - Central Highlands region with an amount of up to more than 120 billion VND. Therefore, in Ha Nha, in addition to handing over new house keys, the soldiers also support people with the smallest items such as bowls, chopsticks, blankets to electronic devices such as TVs so that people can soon stabilize their lives.
Supporting point behind the flood
Currently, the grassroots police force is urgently supporting people to resume administrative procedures and reissue personal papers lost due to natural disasters. This is extremely important for workers to soon return to the labor market and their children to soon stabilize their studies.
At the same time, social security groups continue to review the needs for crop varieties, livestock and labor tools. The goal is not only "having a roof to live in" but must be "having a livelihood to live on".
The overcoming success of the Quang Trung campaign in Da Nang is a vivid proof of the spirit of innovation, discipline and efficiency right after the 14th Party Congress. It shows an action-oriented, empathetic and responsible administrative apparatus.
Mr. Mai Thanh Sang - Chairman of Ha Nha Commune People's Committee - shared: "Without the lightning-fast cooperation of the Police and the Army, the local government could not have completed this huge amount of work in such a short time. This is not just building houses, but building people's trust.
Accompanying the Police, the Military Command (CHQS) of Da Nang City also completed its tasks excellently. The unit has undertaken the repair and construction of nearly 290 new houses in the city and Dak Lak province. More than 500 officers and soldiers and militia forces have continuously constructed regardless of the divided terrain. The City Military Command also allocated nearly 600 million VND in funding and donated hundreds of essential items such as beds, fans, and rice cookers to difficult households.
The Quang Trung campaign has reached its destination. Natural disasters have receded before the strength of solidarity. This Binh Ngo spring, Da Nang celebrates Tet more brilliantly than ever, because in the colors of spring flowers, there is both the bright red color of meaningful bricks and the green color of hearts for the people to serve.
