Learning a trade to gain more skills
After the merger of administrative units, Ia Phi commune (including the old Ia Ka, Ia Nhin, Ia Phi communes), Gia Lai province has a large area, with many people of working age. To gradually achieve the goal of sustainable poverty reduction, the commune government has organized vocational training classes for workers.

This year, the People's Committee of Ia Phi commune organized two vocational training classes for poor and near-poor households in the area with 55 students. In particular, the electrical repair and durian growing vocational training class is registered by many people, suitable for the practical needs of the people.
At the opening ceremony of the durian growing class in mid-October 2025, many students attended fully, and workers were happy and excited to learn about agriculture, especially organic agriculture.
Ms. Ro Cham Nuoc (residing in Ia Phi commune) shared: "The commune has fertile land, people mainly make a living by producing, growing coffee, durian and crops. However, people still lack the skills and techniques to care for trees for high productivity; some households still abuse pesticides and stimulants".

According to Ms. Ro Cham Nuoc, the durian growing vocational class helps people know how to select, find quality breeding sources, limit pests and diseases; at the same time, grasp care techniques, fertilize, and water appropriately to increase productivity and agricultural product value.
Strengthening vocational training for workers
Ia Phi commune has been a large coffee and durian growing area for many years. Chu Pah Rubber One Member Co., Ltd. often receives workers from poor and near-poor households to work, helping to create stable income. People with more skills in garden care will be more proactive in economy, have the conditions for their children to go to school, and gradually improve their lives.

Ms. Ro Cham Hyu (residing in Ia Phi commune) said: "The vocational training time is about 1.5 months, although not long, it is enough to update new knowledge about agriculture and farming. When there is understanding, people take better care of coffee and durian gardens in the context of high agricultural prices. In the commune, many families have risen out of poverty, built solid houses, and bought cars".

In October 2025, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province requested communes and wards to make efforts to implement poverty reduction work. The province strives to reduce the poverty rate in the whole province to 2.24% by the end of 2025, equivalent to 9,404 households escaping poverty.
Mr. Duong Mah Tiep - Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee - said: "In 77 communes and wards in the western region alone, there are currently 58,380 poor and near-poor households. The main reasons are lack of land for production, lack of labor, lack of capital, as well as limitations in knowledge and vocational skills".

The provincial government requires strengthening information and propaganda work to raise people's awareness; especially opening vocational training classes to "pave the way" to help rural and mountainous workers escape poverty.
