Following the pace of city transformation
Along with the continuous development of Ho Chi Minh City, many young reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper have been present at construction sites, new roads, residential areas or amidst the flow of life to record the changes of the city through lenses and pens.
Entering the profession at the end of 2018, reporter Ho Anh Tu (representative office of Lao Dong Newspaper in Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast region) chose the field as a place to learn a trade and grow up. Born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, he had the opportunity to witness the city changing day by day through key infrastructure projects and the livelihood stories of workers. Each working trip, for him, is not only a journey to record information but also an opportunity to listen, understand and retell true stories about the pace of life in the city.
Looking back at the past journey, Mr. Tu said that the awards and certificates of merit are joy and also recognition for the efforts of the collective of reporters, editors and the editorial office.
"What motivates me to pursue journalism is very simple: To go, to witness and record the true breath of life" - Mr. Tu shared.
Ho Chi Minh City is not only changing through modern infrastructure projects but also because of the vitality and will of millions of workers. These ordinary people have become a source of inspiration for Mr. Tu to persistently pursue his profession, reflecting the changes of the city through each journalistic work.
In his career journey, participating in reporting on the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains in the Le Thi Rieng Park area is a special experience for him. The days of sticking to the scene, recording every development of the search work, meeting task force and relatives of martyrs help him feel more clearly the meaning of the work he is doing.
“It's not just a topical event but also a story about history, sacrifice and gratitude. Every piece of information, every image needs to be conveyed with caution and responsibility” - Mr. Tu shared.
Contributing youth for a civilized and rule-of-law urban area
The companionship with the pace of life and development of the city does not stop at the pens and writing of young journalists. On the journey to build a civilized and modern city, that flow of enthusiasm is also continued by the knowledge and dedicated actions of today's generation of students - those who are striving to bring the law from lecture halls to industrial parks and factories.
From admiration for legal propaganda activities from her student days, student Nguyen Ngoc Kieu Diem - Ho Chi Minh City University of Law - chose to try her hand and was fortunate to join the team of the Intern Court Session Club at the school.
Sharing about the reason for embarking on this journey, Kieu Diem expressed: "The essence of legal propaganda activities is to bring seemingly dry knowledge closer to everyone, especially workers. Having parents who are also workers, I deeply understand the difficulties and risks they face in a complex labor market if they lack a legal shield. Therefore, participating in legal propaganda for workers is something that makes me extremely excited.
A major turning point in this young person's journey is the opportunity to accompany Lao Dong Newspaper in the "Giving Health - Legal Advice to Workers - For a Healthy Vietnam" Day held on June 21, 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City. Unlike school stages, this is a place where knowledge from lecture halls is vividly verified through feedback and practical needs of workers.
Kieu Diem emotionally recalled after the performance, looking at the attentive listening eyes, the direct sharing between lawyers and workers, she clearly felt that her activities were meaningful and welcomed. Transmitting laws through mock trials or skits helps workers easily understand, remember and immediately apply relevant issues such as labor contracts, social insurance, and labor safety to protect themselves.
From the perspective of an educator and directly accompanying young people, M.A. Kim Nguyen Hong Minh - Member of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Law - assessed that disseminating legal knowledge to workers is an important and meaningful task in a society that upholds the law as it is today. The more people understand and comply with the law, the more civilized and developed society becomes.
The combination of law training institutions and press agencies such as Lao Dong Newspaper is an extremely effective model. There, press agencies play the role of reflecting the voices, thoughts, and practical problems of union members and workers, while lecturers and law students are the ones who untangle, guide and accurately convey the regulations of the State.
“Through the programs and activities of Lao Dong Newspaper, workers are able to express their aspirations, listen to experts answer and raise their awareness of equipping themselves with legal knowledge, and seriously comply with policies.
At the same time, for students, this is an opportunity to improve their expertise, practice soft skills such as speaking in public, handling real-life situations and enhancing social responsibility, making a solid baggage for their future careers" - M.A. Kim Nguyen Hong Minh emphasized and hoped that this meaningful cooperation model will continue to develop more strongly in the future, contributing to building a civilized, modern and compassionate Ho Chi Minh City.
