The People's Committee of Nha Trang City has just submitted a document to the Nha Trang City Party Committee on the rearrangement of commune-level administrative units in the area.
Accordingly, the 22 administrative units will be merged and divided into 3 new wards, with the names of Nha Trang, Bac Nha Trang and Nam Nha Trang wards respectively.
Merging the remaining 22 administrative units of 3 wards
According to the submission on April 16, the rearrangement of commune-level administrative units aims to streamline the apparatus, meeting the standards on area and population size according to the regulations of the National Assembly Standing Committee. Nha Trang City People's Committee proposed to merge all 22 existing commune-level administrative units to form 3 new administrative units.
Nha Trang ward will be established on the basis of merging the 12 wards: Vinh Hoa, Vinh Hai, Vinh Phuoc, Vinh Tho, Phuong Sai, Van Thanh, Tan Tien, Loc Tho, Phuoc Hoa, Phuoc Hai, Vinh Nguyen and Vinh Truong. This area is currently the administrative, political and economic center of Nha Trang City, where a large population and service and tourism activities are concentrated.
Bac Nha Trang Ward will be established on the basis of merging 5 communes and wards including: Vinh Luong, Vinh Phuong, Vinh Ngoc, Vinh Thanh and Ngoc Hiep. This is the northern area of the city, with the potential for urban development associated with coastal areas and key traffic axes connecting to neighboring districts.
Nam Nha Trang ward was established on the basis of merging 5 communes and wards: Phuoc Long, Phuoc Dong, Vinh Thai, Vinh Hiep and Vinh Trung. This area is located in the south of the city, where there are many urban development projects, tourism, real estate and is the gateway connecting to Cam Ranh International Airport.
Ensuring legal conditions, sharply reducing the number of administrative units
According to the People's Committee of Nha Trang City, after the arrangement, the city will reduce 19 commune-level administrative units, equivalent to 86.36% of the current number of communes and wards. This arrangement complies with regulations, ensuring conditions on natural area, population and administrative organizational structure.
Streamlining the apparatus will contribute to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management; at the same time, creating favorable conditions for infrastructure investment, synchronous socio-economic development planning, in line with the orientation of developing Nha Trang city into a modern coastal urban area, an international tourism center.
Nha Trang is currently the administrative center of Khanh Hoa province, and is one of the most famous coastal cities in the country, attracting 7-9 million tourists each year, with a turnover of tens of thousands of billion dong. The city has an area of more than 250km², a population of more than 500,000 people.
The rearrangement of administrative units, if approved, will be a big step in the process of restructuring Nha Trang urban area, towards a modern, effective urban model, better serving the needs of people and tourists.
