On August 11, a representative of Gia Lai Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited said that they are compiling statistics on the number of degraded and damaged reservoirs in the area to propose funding to support repairs and ensure safety during the 2025 flood season.
According to the report, the western area of Gia Lai province, where most of the agricultural land area has been concentrated with many dams and reservoirs built a long time ago, is now degraded.
77 communes and wards in the western part of the province currently have 352 large, medium and small irrigation works, serving irrigation of about 67,000 hectares of crops and providing domestic water for people.
In particular, many dams such as Tan Son Lake, Ia Mlah Lake, Bien Ho B, Ia Dreh Lake, Ia Ring Lake... have shown signs of serious damage at construction items.

At Tan Son Lake, the upstream dam roof on the side of the spillway was eroded, and seepage through the dam on the left appeared.
At Ia Dreh Lake, the dam's body measurement system was completely damaged, the drainage valves and spillways were all degraded, the concrete slope was cracked, eroded... causing unsafety.
In Bo Ngoong commune, Ia Ring dam with a capacity of more than 10 million m3 was once severed, causing water leakage to flood many rice areas by the end of 2024. Although temporarily patched with stone cages, the project has not yet ensured long-term safety.
Currently, Gia Lai Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited has not yet fully collected water in the reservoir to avoid the risk of incidents and ensure the safety of people in the downstream area.
