On the morning of June 25, at the press conference in June 2026, the Provincial People's Committee deployed the Plan to organize activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2027), with many practical activities to show gratitude to people with meritorious services to the revolution, spreading the tradition of "When drinking water, remember the source" throughout society.
According to the plan, the series of activities will be implemented throughout the two years 2026 - 2027, focusing on propaganda, caring for the lives of people with meritorious services, upgrading martyrs' memorial works, and mobilizing the joint efforts of the whole society in the "Gratitude" movement.

In the field of caring for people with meritorious services, Dong Thap continues to fully implement preferential regimes and policies; organize centralized and at-home nursing; take people with meritorious services and relatives of martyrs to visit Hanoi Capital, visit President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, visit historical sites; and at the same time implement the Kaigo-oriented model of caring for people with meritorious services in Japan in accordance with local conditions.
Notably, in 2026, the province will support the construction and repair of 536 houses for people with meritorious services and relatives of people with meritorious services from the support source of Dong Thap Lottery Company Limited; and at the same time support 42 more houses for the biological children of resistance war activists infected with chemical toxins. Localities will also continue to review and mobilize resources from the "Gratitude Fund" and socialized sources to support housing for those who are still in difficulty.

At the same time, the province sets a goal to complete the upgrading, repair, and renovation of 100% of martyrs' cemeteries, temples, steles bearing the names of martyrs and works commemorating merits in the area before June 2027, ensuring spaciousness, solemnity, and cleanliness. Dong Thap Center for Nursing People with Meritorious Services will also be invested in upgrading to better serve the work of caring for and restoring health for people with meritorious services.
Many gratitude activities will be organized on July 27 every year such as: provincial leadership delegations visiting and giving gifts to policy families; memorial service and reburial of martyrs' remains of volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese experts who sacrificed in Cambodia; offering incense and lighting candles of gratitude at martyrs' cemeteries; organizing death anniversaries for heroic martyrs; mobilizing to build the "Gratitude Fund"; launching a youth movement to care for people with meritorious services and renovate martyrs' memorial works. At the same time, the province continues to take DNA samples for martyrs' graves that have not been identified and deploy the "500-day and night campaign to search, collect and identify martyrs' remains".
The highlight of 2027 is the 80th Anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day and the Conference to commend people with meritorious services to the revolution, expected to be held in mid-July with about 250 delegates attending, broadcast live. On this occasion, the province also produced documentaries, specialized pages to propagate the "Gratitude" movement, organized many delegations to take people with meritorious services to visit Uncle Ho's Mausoleum, attend national-level anniversaries and continue activities to visit and care for people with meritorious services in the area.
