In the context of the complicated African swine fever epidemic in many localities, people in Thang Binh commune, Da Nang city reported the situation of many dead pigs being thrown floating on the Phu Ninh irrigation canal, the section passing through Quy Thanh village, giving off a foul smell, causing serious environmental pollution.

Recorded at the scene on July 17, some pigs in the process of decomposing were gathered in the culvert area of the canal. The incident has upset local people, saying that a part of the farmers throw animal carcasses into the environment, which poses a potential risk of spreading the disease.
According to Mr. Doan Thanh Khiet - Chairman of the People's Committee of Thang Binh Commune, after receiving the feedback, the locality has directed the authorities to collect and destroy the dead pigs according to the disease handling process.
Since the beginning of July, African swine fever has appeared in many communes and wards of Da Nang City such as Song Kon, Xuan Phu, Thang Truong and Quang Phu, causing at least 125 pigs to die, forcing them to be destroyed with a total weight of more than 7 tons.

The People's Committee of Da Nang City has directed localities to urgently contain and handle the epidemic, while increasing propaganda to people, requiring that pig carcasses must not be thrown into the environment to avoid the risk of spreading.
In Thang Binh commune, although an outbreak has not been detected, the local government has still implemented measures to monitor and propagate epidemic prevention throughout the commune.
