switch to electric bus to work
Ms. Le Thi Thu Ha (Hoang Mai District, Hanoi) used to be hard every morning when riding a motorbike to Cau Giay district to work. However, since the electric bus route connecting her apartment area to the workplace, she tried to experience and decided to give up motorbikes to switch to electric bus. "The electric bus is not polluted, does not smell the oil sickness, cool air conditioning, civilized and modern service" - Ms. Ha shared.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (34 years old, Ha Dong district) said that before, she did not like to take the bus because old bus routes often had a foul smell, not to mention the black smoke emitted when the bus hit the gas station. "Since the electric bus appeared, everything has changed completely. The vehicle runs smoothly, with a thoughtful service attitude, with both wifi and a phone charging port. I feel much more comfortable" - Ms. Hoa said.
After a month of experience using electric buses, Ms. Hoa and many colleagues decided to switch to this vehicle to reduce costs and avoid dust and smoke. According to her, to make electric buses a popular choice, Hanoi needs to expand more routes using this means of transport.
Electric bus - a replacement for private vehicles
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam, General Director of Transerco, said that the company has researched and installed a charging station system and power supply infrastructure to deploy 46 electric buses. This is considered an important premise for Hanoi to continue to accelerate the plan to convert vehicles using green energy.
In fact, many people used to think that buses were only suitable for students and the elderly, while commuters rarely used public transport. However, the latest statistics show that up to 89% of customers using Vinbus monthly cards are commuters. This shows that when services are improved, electric buses can completely replace private vehicles. Due to the increasing trend of people choosing electric buses, Vinbus is focusing on investing in this group of customers.
Hanoi promotes green transportation
Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen said that on November 18, 2024, the city issued a project to develop a public transport system using electric buses, green energy, with the goal that by 2030, all Hanoi buses will use clean energy.
To speed up the conversion process, the Hanoi People's Committee has assigned the Department of Transport to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to advise the city to issue policies to support businesses to invest in electric buses, while promoting the development of charging station infrastructure.
In addition, the Hanoi People's Committee also requested relevant units to urgently develop a unit price list and operating norms for electric buses as a basis for bidding for new routes. This is considered an important step to ensure that electric buses can operate sustainably, attracting people to switch from motorbikes to public transport.
According to experts, one of the factors that determine the success of electric buses is reasonable ticket prices and accompanying utilities. Currently, the monthly ticket price for electric buses in Hanoi ranges from 70,000 - 280,000 VND/month, depending on the subject and ticket type. Meanwhile, the average cost of motorbike gasoline is around 800,000 VND - 1 million VND/month. With this price, choosing an electric bus not only helps save costs but also brings a convenient travel experience, reducing traffic pressure and environmental pollution.
Need to accelerate the development of electric buses
The expansion of the electric bus system not only contributes to reducing pollution but also helps solve traffic congestion in Hanoi. However, to make electric buses a popular means of transportation, it is necessary to invest more in infrastructure, expand routes and ensure a good experience for passengers.
Many passengers believe that, to attract more users, the city needs to prioritize electric bus routes running through densely populated areas, office areas and new urban areas. If done well, green transportation can become the future of Hanoi, helping to improve air quality and improve the quality of life of people.
