From the end of June to mid-September 2025, the whole province of Gia Lai recorded African swine fever in 22 communes and wards with 57 livestock households in 42 villages and hamlets. The total number of destroyed pigs was more than 1,080, weighing over 64 tons.
During the week from August 30 to September 5, the epidemic continued to arise in 5 households in 3 communes, forcing the destruction of 64 pigs. Up to now, 17/22 communes and wards have not had any new outbreaks for 21 days, including: An Nhon Dong, Tuy Phuoc Tay, Tuy Phuoc, An Hao, Cuu An, Ia Nan, Mang Yang, Ia Tul, Ia Krai, Ia Grai, Chu Se, Ia Kret, Ia Phi, Lo Pang, Al Ba, Duc Co and Ayun Pa.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province, the erratic weather at the inter-season - the West enters the rainy season, while the East is hot and sunny with rain - causing the resistance of livestock to decline, posing a potential risk of an outbreak.
To control the epidemic, the province maintains 4 animal quarantine points on key national highways (QL) until September 30, including: Binh De (QL1, Hoai Nhon Bac ward), Song An (QL19, Cuu An commune), Ia Khuol (QL14, Ia Khuol commune) and Ia Le (QL14, Ia Le commune).
In this situation, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan requested that there should be absolutely no subjectivity, negligence or forms of handling in disease prevention and control.
Prevention and control of epidemics must start from livestock farming, detect early and thoroughly handle outbreaks, not allowing recurrence or widespread spread. Anti-epidemic work must be associated with the goal of stabilizing production, protecting the market and people's lives.
"Chairmen of communes and wards must be fully responsible to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee if they lack responsibility in leading and directing the epidemic to arise on a large scale, causing great damage," Mr. Tuan emphasized.
The Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee requested localities to propagate so that people do not hide the epidemic, do not sell or throw dead pigs into the environment. Organize periodic cleaning and disinfection in livestock farming areas, markets, slaughterhouses and old outbreaks.
