In recent days, information has appeared on Facebook about Mr. Nguyen Xuan Luan - Principal of Dak Somei Primary School (Dak Somei commune, Gia Lai province) calling on schools and donors to support textbooks for students.
In the posted content, Mr. Luan said: "In the 2025-2026 school year, the school has 1,050 students with 31 classes, of which more than 1,000 are Ba Na and Mong ethnic people. Currently, many students from grades 1 to 5 do not have textbooks, especially the book series Connecting knowledge with life. Schools are using textbooks to connect knowledge with life.
We hope that school leaders will encourage students to donate old books that are no longer used to support Dak Somei Primary School. The school would like to thank you very much and hope to receive it".

According to the Principal of Dak Somei Primary School, the 2025-2026 school year has started for nearly a week, however, the rate of students lacking textbooks accounts for nearly 60%, with almost no students in any class having enough sets of books to study.
"The school has reported this issue to the local authorities. However, due to the large number of students lacking books, the school had to call for support from benefactors and philanthropists to ensure their studies were not interrupted.
After the information was posted, schools and donors joined hands to support most of the missing textbooks. The scene only lacks about 300 volumes in the subjects of Physical Education, Music, Fine Arts and English...", said Mr. Luan.
According to Mr. Luan, up to now, parents have bought all the subjects for their children. However, most of the school's students are children of ethnic minorities, with difficult economic conditions, and limited parents' care. Therefore, in order to not affect teaching, many classes have to arrange 2-3 students to study a book together.
In addition, the newly established school library has not yet provided a source of books for students to borrow, while the current budget is only enough to pay salaries and allowances for teachers, making it impossible to purchase more textbooks.
On the afternoon of September 10, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Dinh Ong - Chairman of Dak Somei Commune People's Committee - said that the locality will inspect the shortage of textbooks and subjects at Dak Somei Primary School, and soon have a support plan to ensure students' learning.
