Metro Line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) is about to enter the construction phase after setting a start date for the end of 2025. A series of site clearance and relocation of technical infrastructure are being implemented to ensure the progress of the construction.
Currently, the site clearance work has been 99.83% completed, with only one case remaining, the District 3 Police headquarters, expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025. At the same time, technical infrastructure such as electricity, water, and telecommunications at the station locations are also being relocated, expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2025.
On Cach Mang Thang Tam Street (District 3), many works have been dismantled, the site has been cleared, ready for construction. People in the area are looking forward to the day metro No. 2 officially comes into operation.
Mr. Hoang Minh (30 years old, Tan Binh district) shared: "When encouraged by the government, I proactively cleaned up and handed over the site. My house is about 3 m back, all demolition work is supported so there are not many difficulties. If the metro line is completed, we will also be lucky."

However, not only are there positive expectations, site clearance and construction are also affecting the lives of people around. Ms. Mai Huong (District 3) said: "The relocation of technical infrastructure is prolonged with noise and dust, affecting daily activities. We hope the project will be implemented soon to stabilize our lives."

Previously, the plan to exploit Metro Line 2 was set for 2026. However, due to many problems related to site clearance and investment procedures, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has adjusted the completion time to 2030.
Metro No. 2 has a total investment of nearly VND47,900 billion, with 9.2 km underground, the rest elevated and leading to the depot. The project consists of 9 underground stations and 1 elevated station. Metro Line 2 is the second urban railway line in Ho Chi Minh City, after Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) which was commercially operated by the end of 2024.
When completed, Metro Line 2 will connect the city center with the Northwest, contributing to reducing traffic pressure on main roads such as Cach Mang Thang Tam, Truong Chinh, Cong Hoa...
