Expanding development space
The Nguyen Van Linh road and residential area project is located in the Pleiku urban center area, with a total investment of more than 2,100 billion VND. For more than a decade, the project has faced many difficulties due to lack of clean ground, causing the construction progress to be prolonged. However, with the drastic involvement of local authorities, compensation and clearance work has been effective, helping the road gradually become clear.
The new road winds through the typical hillsides of the mountain town, creating a harmonious landscape between modern infrastructure and nature. The space on both sides of the route is synchronously planned, expected to form new spacious urban areas, contributing to changing the urban appearance of Pleiku in a modern and sustainable direction.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Hao - residing in Hoi Phu ward - shared that when the project was still "motionless", people's lives in the area were significantly affected. House repairs and electricity and water connections faced many difficulties, while machinery and equipment were abandoned and degraded. Now that the road is gradually completed, people expect this area to develop vibrantly and become a new urban highlight.
According to the Gia Lai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, removing site bottlenecks is an important turning point, helping the project accelerate. When put into use, the road will not only reduce pressure on existing traffic axes but also expand the development space to the east and south of the city.
Creating more opportunities for people and businesses
Notably, the land fund after clearance is planned into a resettlement area of about 94ha, with a synchronous infrastructure system including transportation, electricity, water, and green trees, to stabilize the lives of affected people.
Along with that, the eastern Gia Lai economic corridor route has been opened to traffic since April 2026, with a length of more than 15km and a total investment of over 1,300 billion VND. The route directly connects National Highway 19 with National Highway 14 (Ho Chi Minh Road), forming a traffic axis connecting regions in the province and the Central Highlands region.
The special feature of this route is not only its traffic role, but also its ability to connect famous tourist destinations of Gia Lai. From Pleiku center, visitors can easily move to Bien Ho, Bien Ho che, hundred-year-old pine hills or Chu Dang Ya volcano, typical scenic spots of the plateau.
If previously, access to these destinations was still difficult due to limited infrastructure, now, the wide road has helped shorten travel time and enhance the tourist experience. The winding road through green coffee hills is not only convenient but also brings landscape value, contributing to creating attractive tourist journeys.
With a total investment of 1,325 billion VND, of which the central budget supports 900 billion VND, the eastern economic corridor is expected to reduce the load on existing roads, while opening up new development space for Pleiku city.
Gia Lai, from a locality with limited infrastructure, is transforming strongly, aiming to become an attractive destination of the Central Highlands. The new routes not only shorten the distance but also expand development opportunities, creating a foundation for Pleiku to be dynamic and rich in identity.
