From 7 pm on January 22nd to 7 am on January 23rd, many areas in 12 provinces and cities across the country recorded the lowest actual temperature below 10 degrees Celsius. Cold air continues to cause widespread severe cold and frost in the North and North Central regions.
In a quick exchange with PV on the morning of January 22, Mr. Hoang Quoc Huy - Head of Mau Son Meteorological Station said that the temperature in this area at one point decreased to -0.1 degrees Celsius, the lowest level in the current cold air wave.
According to monitoring data, many northern mountainous localities recorded deep temperature drops.

Specifically, in Moc Chau (Son La), the lowest temperature measured is 6 degrees C; Sa Pa (Lao Cai) 4.7 degrees C; Dong Van (Tuyen Quang) 4.5 degrees C; Tam Dao (Phu Tho) 4.9 degrees C; Trung Khanh (Cao Bang) 5.8 degrees C.
Some midland and delta areas also recorded severe cold such as Son Dong (Bac Ninh) 8.7 degrees C, Nam Dinh (Ninh Binh) 8 degrees C.
Lao Cai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station said that severe cold occurs on a large scale in low-lying areas; severe cold in mountainous areas, severe cold in high mountainous areas, in some places very severe. This cold spell is likely to last for about 3 days.
Notably, there is a risk of frost and frost in high mountainous areas over 2,600m.
In the afternoon and night of January 22, Fansipan peak is warned of the possibility of snowfall. During this cold spell, the lowest temperature in the Northern region is commonly 12-14 degrees C, mountainous areas 7-9 degrees C, Sa Pa may decrease to 4-6 degrees C.
In Son La, the Provincial Hydrometeorological Station said that on January 23, the weather will continue to be affected by increased continental cold high pressure. The whole province is cloudy, with light rain in some places, cold weather, severe cold in high mountainous areas, Northeast wind level 2-3.
The lowest temperature is commonly from 7-13 degrees C, the highest is 14-23 degrees C. The areas of Bac Yen, Moc Chau, Van Ho are likely to experience severe cold with the lowest temperature 7-8 degrees C, early morning fog, especially Moc Chau and Van Ho have rain, light showers.
