Silent but proud work
In the atmosphere of National Day celebration, along with the solemn steps of the parade, there is a quiet image of environmental workers. whispering and perseverance, they have contributed to keeping Hanoi clean and beautiful on the national big holiday.
Amidst the crowded crowd, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien - a worker at Hanoi Urban Environment Company - still hand-scaned and collected each bag of garbage to keep the streets neat and clean. For her, this is a special job, because it is both a professional responsibility and an honor to contribute a small part to the important day of the country.
Sharing with Lao Dong reporter, Ms. Hien said: "These days, I have more work than usual, but I don't feel pressured. On the contrary, I feel happy and proud to contribute to keeping the capital bright and beautiful. Seeing the people and tourists excitedly watching the parade, I have more motivation to work. I consider this a happiness, because my work has directly contributed to making Hanoi neat in the eyes of everyone".
For her, directly contributing to keeping the capital bright and beautiful during the big holidays not only brings motivation, but also pride for her to continue to stick with and contribute to her work. Ms. Hien shared that many people after attending the parade proactively collected their trash, put it in bags and left it in the right place, helping to reduce the burden on workers. I see many young people who are very conscious, pick up bottles and plastic bags to put them away. Some families have prepared small trash bags to collect, and give them to us at the end of the holiday. Those images make us feel encouraged, the efforts are not wasted" - Ms. Hien expressed.
General responsibility and joy
Sharing the same spirit, Mr. Truong Quang Hiep - a worker at Hanoi Urban Environment Company - was on duty throughout the festival to ensure the streets were always clean. At this time, his shift usually starts at 3am and lasts until noon.
He shared his excitement at being able to contribute on the big day: We are always ready to work whenever necessary. My joy is to see the streets streamlined and neat to welcome tens of thousands of people and tourists. In addition, there are also enthusiastic volunteers, so the work is very supported.
For Mr. Hiep, cleaning up during the National Day is not only daily work, but also a responsibility and pride. I feel happy to contribute a small part to make the whole country have a solemn holiday, he expressed.
Not only working on holidays, Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen - a worker at Hanoi Urban Environment Company - said that the work of cleaning and renovating the streets has been prepared since mid-August.
"To have such an appearance, we have started cleaning up many weeks ago. The streets and sidewalks have been cleaned many times. The work is not just one day, but a continuous process, with the coordination of many groups and shifts" - Ms. Yen shared.
According to her, the amount of garbage during the holidays always increases significantly compared to normal days. Therefore, the entire team of workers had to work overtime to make the streets more spacious the next morning, ready to welcome tens of thousands of people and tourists.
Without brilliant fireworks, without vibrant parade music, the work of environmental workers still took place quietly and regularly all day and night. For them, National Day is not only an sacred occasion, but also an opportunity to contribute a part to help the capital become greener - cleaner - more beautiful on the great national holiday.
