Faced with the increasing risk of landslides after heavy rains and storms, Lao Cai has focused resources on implementing many urgent disaster prevention projects.
In which, Cam Duong ward is identified as a key area when many residential areas are located close to taluy, posing high risks every rainy season.
One of the notable projects is the landslide prevention embankment line at groups 13, 14, 15 of Pom Han area that has been completed and promoted efficiency. The project has a total investment of about 50 billion VND invested by the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Cam Duong - Hop Thanh area.

Mr. Nguyen The Trong - Deputy Director of Minh Duc General Construction Co., Ltd., the construction unit - said that the contractor has mobilized maximum manpower and equipment when the weather is favorable to ensure progress. Up to now, the project has been completed, meeting the requirements of protecting the residential area.
Assessing the project's effectiveness, Mr. Pham Ngoc Thang - Head of Project Management Department, Investment and Construction Project Management Board of Cam Duong - Hop Thanh area informed: The embankment plays the role of a "shield" for dozens of households living close to the taluy, an area that has been threatened many times by landslides during the rainy season.
Not only in Cam Duong, Lao Cai province is simultaneously implementing large-scale landslide treatment projects to reinforce key points in the area.
In which, the project to handle landslides and stabilize the taluy behind the Provincial Political School with a total investment of about 95 billion VND is being implemented. Previously, this area showed signs of instability after many heavy rains, posing a potential risk of affecting neighboring residential areas.

In parallel, the project to handle landslides behind the Specialized High School with a total capital of about 20 billion VND is also being promoted. The project focuses on reinforcing the slope, overcoming landslide points and increasing drainage capacity to ensure long-term safety.
The two projects are currently undertaken by ATV Vietnam Slope Protection Technology Development Joint Stock Company in the period 2025–2026.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Son - Commander of the projects - said that the contractor has mobilized maximum manpower, machinery and organized overtime to speed up progress. Up to now, the embankment item behind the High School for the Gifted has been basically completed, while the project in the Political School area is being accelerated immediately after the Tet holiday.

According to Mr. Phung Minh Quan - Deputy Head of Project Management Department 1, Lao Cai Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, the total capital of the two projects is more than 100 billion VND allocated from the provincial budget and disbursed according to the construction progress.
The projects have completed the main part to ensure safety for people. After the holiday, the contractor will continue to complete auxiliary items. We regularly coordinate to inspect the site to ensure progress, quality and labor safety," Mr. Quan said.

Leaders of Cam Duong Ward People's Committee said that the locality is gradually arranging safe accommodation for households along the taluy, considering this as a fundamental solution in parallel with investing in landslide prevention works.
The simultaneous completion of embankment lines is expected to create a solid defense system for the urban area of the province. When the works go into operation, the risk of landslides in the rainy and flood season will be significantly reduced, helping people stabilize their lives.
