Special votes in the detention center in Da Nang

On the morning of March 15, along with the atmosphere of the All People's Day, people who were temporarily detained at Detention Center No. 1, Da Nang City Police participated in voting.

This is one of the special polling stations for National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term of the city, ensuring citizen rights for those who are in temporary detention and custody.

From early morning, the propaganda loudspeaker system about the election rang out throughout the detention areas. Many defendants, including female defendants, woke up early to do personal hygiene, preparing neat clothes to participate in voting. The atmosphere in the voting area was serious, orderly and in accordance with regulations.

Ms. Ph.Th. Th. H., who is being temporarily detained at Detention Center No. 1, said she was very touched to exercise her citizenship rights. Although she is under temporary detention, she and many others are still facilitated to participate in the election. According to Ms. H., the ballot not only shows citizenship but also sends faith in people who are virtuous and talented enough to contribute to the development of the country.

To serve the election, the Board of Directors of Detention Center No. 1 has arranged a convenient voting area in the unit. Previously, defendants and accused were facilitated to learn about the biographies and action programs of candidates. Prison officials also propagated and provided specific guidance on the rights and obligations of voters, procedures and methods of voting in accordance with the law.

In Da Nang city, there are more than 2,000 people being temporarily detained and temporarily held who are eligible to participate in the election. The city police have organized polling stations in 2 detention centers and 10 sub-prisons to ensure that all voters have the right to vote.

Leaders of Detention Center No. 1 said that the unit has coordinated with relevant agencies to review voter lists, issue voter cards and organize propaganda about voting rights for those being temporarily detained and imprisoned. On election day, ballot boxes are brought to each sub-camp for voters to vote conveniently, under the supervision of functional agencies.

Up to this point, the voting work at Detention Center No. 1 is going smoothly, ensuring compliance with the provisions of law and showing the spirit of respecting citizens' rights for those being temporarily detained and imprisoned.
