Instead of rice fields with unstable productivity, now, green gardens with diverse vegetables have become a familiar image in Cuong village, Quai Cang commune, Tuan Giao district, Dien Bien province.
With an area of 5,000m2, the model of growing vegetables in greenhouses implemented by Luong Ninh Cooperative is bringing significant efficiency. Households have initially succeeded in producing and supplying the market with safe vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and mustard greens...

In the past, the lives of the people of Cuong village mainly depended on traditional agricultural production. Growing rice and intercropping vegetables brought unstable income due to the influence of weather, pests and technical limitations.
Mr. Lo Van Ngoan - a member of Luong Ninh Cooperative - said: "Previously, my family grew vegetables using the old method, with low productivity and frequent pests. Since joining the greenhouse model, I have had a more stable income thanks to increased vegetable output and guaranteed quality."

According to Mr. Ngoan, thanks to technical training, people have quickly grasped the new farming process, vegetable productivity has increased from 3-10%. With nearly 1,000m2 of vegetable land, each year, his family earns over 50 million VND.
In Muong Ang district, with a large water surface area, the cage fish farming model at Ang Cang lake has helped over 15 households in Manh Danh village, Ang Cang commune increase their income and improve their lives.
According to Mr. Luong Van La - Chairman of Manh Danh Aquatic Cooperative, cage fish farming has become an effective solution to replace agricultural cultivation on flooded land. Thanks to the application of cage fish farming model, the Cooperative has achieved positive results with an annual fish output of over 10 tons.

In particular, raising monosex tilapia has brought high economic efficiency to the people. With an average weight of over 1kg/fish when sold, this fish has become a key product of the cooperative. In addition, grass carp also grows well, with a high survival rate.
Mr. La said that each year, the cooperative's revenue from selling fish reaches about 700-800 million VND. After deducting expenses, households in the cooperative have an income of 30-50 million VND/year. This is a dream income for poor farmers in Muong Ang district. In addition, good management of Ang Cang lake has brought in a revenue of 20 million VND from fishing tickets.
Mr. Lo Van Quan - Chairman of Ang Cang Commune People's Committee - said that since Ang Cang Reservoir came into operation, it has opened up many new directions for the local economy. People take advantage of the large water surface to raise fish in cages, raise ducks, etc.
Mr. Le Thanh Do - Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee - said that Dien Bien province strives to reduce the poverty rate to below 10% by 2030.
To achieve this goal, the province will focus on solutions such as: supporting stable livelihoods, career orientation for workers, finding consumer markets for products, restoring and developing traditional craft villages.
Besides, building a production - consumption chain, ensuring social security and implementing multidimensional and sustainable poverty reduction programs.
