Recorded on the evening of January 28 (29th of Tet), at the Emergency Resuscitation Department of Tien Giang General Hospital, medical staff were still on duty to perform emergency and treatment tasks for patients during Tet.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thu - Specialist I, Department of Emergency Resuscitation, Tien Giang General Hospital - said that this is the 9th year she has performed emergency care during Tet.
“This is a special department, the on-duty team has to work continuously to handle emergencies and treat patients. We only meet for a moment, wish each other well, then everyone gets back to work. For us, ensuring health, helping patients recover quickly, and return home to their loved ones is a very meaningful Tet gift,” Dr. Thu shared.
At An Giang Regional General Hospital (Chau Doc City, An Giang Province), medical staff are also on duty to treat patients.
Ms. Le Thi Cam Quyen - Nurse of the Artificial Kidney Department at An Giang Regional General Hospital - said that the Artificial Kidney Department receives an average of 130 cases of dialysis each day. Each dialysis session takes 3 - 4 hours. Therefore, from 5 am, the Department has started receiving patients for treatment.
“During Tet, the medical staff at the Artificial Kidney Department at An Giang Regional General Hospital still work, continuing to accompany patients to fight against diseases,” said Ms. Quyen.
Doctor Tran Phat Tai - Chau Phu District Medical Center (An Giang Province) - said that during Tet, the work of doctors and medical staff is often busier. The reason is that Tet is also the time when many diseases increase such as: digestive disorders, alcohol poisoning, traffic accidents, household accidents, or chronic diseases (such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes ...) relapse due to changes in weather, changes in living and eating habits. Being overwhelmed with work makes doctors always busy and celebrating Tet at the hospital has become normal.
“In spring, most patients coming to the emergency room are often seriously or very seriously ill. Therefore, doctors and nurses must always be highly focused, not be negligent, and be ready to serve patients 24/7,” Dr. Tai shared.
According to Dr. Tai, the biggest wish for this Tet At Ty is to reduce the number of patients. If there are patients hospitalized, hopefully they only have mild illnesses, get through the critical stage and recover soon so they can return home to reunite with their families. Whether it is a normal day or Tet, what makes the medical team happiest is still seeing patients healthy. This is also the most meaningful gift for every doctor when Tet comes, spring comes.
During Tet, when people gather with their families, the lights in hospitals and medical facilities are still bright. Doctors, nurses and support staff are always ready to handle any emergency situation. Night shifts and urgent calls from the emergency room are a daily routine but become more special during the holidays.
