This is considered one of the most serious waterway accidents in recent years, posing major issues regarding weather forecasts, vehicle safety standards and waterway tourism management.

In April 2025, the HOSEI CROWN ship was on its way from Chua Ve port, Hai Phong to the Philippines; at a location about 20 nautical miles south of buoy No. 0 of Hai Phong channel, about 45 nautical miles northwest of Bach Long Vi island, it collided with fishing boat TH 92686TS, causing the fishing boat to sink.

The collision in the sea area in Hai Phong killed 4 crew members of a fishing boat.

Not only tourist routes or large rivers, small boat capsizes on lakes and near-shore seas also occur continuously.

In the sea area of Ky Anh town (Ha Tinh province) on May 26, 2025, a fisherman's basket boat capsized while fishing near the shore.

In the afternoon of April 29, 2024, a group of 7 people invited each other to play on the Be River branch (section passing through Tan Hai hamlet, Loc Phu commune, old Loc Ninh district, Binh Phuoc). When they reached the middle of the river, the boat capsized, 2 people luckily swam ashore, and the remaining 3 people drowned and sank in the middle of the river.
