On the morning of February 22, in an exchange with reporters, Mr. Ta Quang Cong, Chairman of Bao Ai Commune People's Committee, Lao Cai province, said - By 7:20 am on the same day, functional forces had found the first victim's body in the passenger ship capsizing incident that occurred on the evening of February 21 on Thac Ba Lake.
The victim was identified as Hoang Duc M. (born 2015, residing in hamlet 1, Cam Nhan commune). The victim's body was found near the area where the passenger train capsized.
Immediately after discovery, the forces brought M's body ashore and handed it over to the family for funeral arrangements according to local customs.

Currently, there are 5 people missing including: Hoang Thi Thanh Th (born 2012), Hoang Thi T (born 1966), Hoang Thi H (born 1970), Trieu Thi H (born 1978) and Hoang Van T (born 1984), all residing in Ngoi Song village, Cam Nhan commune, Lao Cai province.
Previously, at about 7:15 pm on February 21, in the Lang Can village area, Bao Ai commune, on Thac Ba lake, a collision between two waterway vehicles occurred, causing the passenger ship to capsize, and many people to fall into the water.
On the same night, hundreds of police officers, soldiers, militia, and local rescue forces were mobilized to deploy search operations.
Up to now, about 200 people and nearly 30 boats are still dividing the area to search and dive to find the remaining victims.
The cause of the accident is being further investigated and clarified by functional agencies.
