On June 15, the Team for Repatriating Martyrs' Remains (K53), under the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command, began digging horizontal trenches perpendicular to Truong Chinh street and the auxiliary gate area of Dak Cam Ward Martyrs' Cemetery to expand the scope of searching and repatriating martyrs' remains.
Functional forces use mechanical vehicles to cut and peel off the asphalt and solid concrete layers on the surface.
After that, officers and soldiers of Team K53 switched to manual excavation to ensure caution and minimize disruption of traces that may remain underground.
After conducting radar scans through the ground at suspected locations, dozens of officers and soldiers are making efforts to exhume and search for martyrs' remains with a high sense of responsibility.

To facilitate the search, the Police and the Military Command of Dak Cam Ward ensured security and order, laid ropes to separate and divert traffic at the road sections being dug.
Many local people in Kon Tum and Dak Cam wards took turns bringing drinking water to encourage the task force.
According to the plan, the repatriation force will dig 4 main ditches across Truong Chinh street and the area in front of the auxiliary gate of Dak Cam Ward Martyrs' Cemetery.
To date, officers and soldiers have dug up and excavated more than 2,000m3 of soil and rock.
Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command and Dak Cam Ward authorities also called on people to provide information related to martyrs and martyrs' graves in the Truong Chinh street area to serve the search work.

As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, according to documents, sources and testimonies of historical witnesses collected by functional agencies, the Truong Chinh road area in Dak Cam and Kon Tum wards (Quang Ngai province) is determined to have a mass grave with about 70 - 90 sets of martyrs' remains.
Steering Committee 515 of Quang Ngai province organized a ceremony to deploy the excavation, search and repatriation of martyrs' remains in the Truong Chinh road area, and at the same time mobilized experts and scientists to participate in supporting technology for verification and search.
