Currently, from Nha Be District, District 7 to District 4 and District 1, there are two main roads: Nguyen Huu Tho - Kenh Te Bridge and Huynh Tan Phat - Tan Thuan Bridge - Nguyen Tat Thanh Street. These roads are all seriously overloaded, leading to frequent traffic jams.
In particular, Nguyen Tat Thanh Street is currently the biggest bottleneck with traffic exceeding its capacity by 140%. In the first 9 months of 2024 alone, this route witnessed 811 traffic jams, topping the list of traffic jams in Ho Chi Minh City.

Nguyen Khoi Bridge: Connecting Districts 7, 4 and 1
The Nguyen Khoi Bridge and Road Project, with a total investment of over 3,700 billion VND, is the project expected to help reduce the largest traffic load at present. The project was approved by the HCMC People's Council for investment adjustment in December last year after changing its scale.
Nguyen Khoi Bridge has a total length of nearly 5km, of which the bridge part is about 2.5km, 6.5-25.5m wide; the road part is more than 2.3km long, 26.5-61.5m wide.
The project starts from D1 Street (connecting Saigon University with Nguyen Van Linh Street and Him Lam residential area, District 7), then the main bridge crosses Te Canal by overpass along Nguyen Khoi Street. The bridge continues to cross Ben Nghe Canal to connect to Vo Van Kiet Street (District 1).
In addition to the main route, the project includes branches connecting to the following roads: Tran Xuan Soan, Ton That Thuyet, and Vo Van Kiet.

The city is expected to start construction of some bridge and road projects on the District 1 side in the fourth quarter of this year. By 2025, compensation and site clearance will be completed, allowing construction of the entire project to begin and be completed in 2027.
The Management Board of Traffic Construction Investment Projects (investor) has requested the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City to support the inspection and urge District 4 to quickly complete compensation procedures, with the goal of approving the compensation plan before December 30.
Compensation costs for the Nguyen Khoi bridge and road project are expected to increase to about 1,077 billion VND, an increase of 74 billion VND compared to the initial estimate when applying the 2024 Land Law.
Thu Thiem Bridge 4: Connecting District 7 and Thu Duc City
In addition, the Thu Thiem 4 bridge project is also one of the important projects to improve the connection from District 7 to Thu Thiem New Urban Area (Thu Duc City).
Thu Thiem 4 Bridge has a total length of 2.16km (the main bridge is longer than 1.6km) with 6 lanes and an investment capital of more than 6,000 billion VND.

This bridge will start from the intersection of Tan Thuan 2 Bridge - Nguyen Van Linh, go along Nguyen Van Linh, turn to Luu Trong Lu (District 7), cross the Saigon River, connect to Thu Thiem at the intersection of the North-South axis and Bui Thien Ngo.
According to plan, the project will start construction on April 30, 2025 and is expected to be completed in 2028.

When put into operation, Thu Thiem 4 Bridge will help create a new road axis from Thu Duc City and Binh Thanh to District 7, as well as neighboring districts such as District 8, Nha Be and Binh Chanh.
This project will also reduce pressure on existing routes such as Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Khanh Hoi Bridge, Huynh Tan Phat and Nguyen Van Linh.
