Farmers worry about poor quality fertilizers
Mr. Nguyen Van Duong (Cu Bao ward, Dak Lak) has more than 1.5 hectares of durian growing intercropped in coffee. He said that there are many fertilizers on the market in the style of "mixed gold". Therefore, farmers are very concerned about heavy metal contamination exceeding the permitted threshold.
He said that the State needs to control from the beginning and recommend a list of safe products, helping farmers avoid risks.
" Farmers' money is sweat and tears. I hope the quality of fertilizer must be the same as printed on packaging and advertising. If we buy poor quality fertilizers, farmers will suffer the first, said Mr. Duong.

Similarly, farmer Tran Thanh Thoang recommended that management agencies need to strengthen control of the quality of materials, especially fertilizers and pesticides. Strictly punish establishments trading in counterfeit and poor quality goods.
"When buying products, farmers must be guaranteed the right quality, so that when put into production, they can bring real economic efficiency to the crop," Mr. Thoang expressed.
Solutions to limit heavy metals
Mr. Vu Anh - owner of Vu Anh fertilizer agent (Lam Dong) said that each year, hundreds of tons of fertilizer are supplied. According to Mr. Anh, the demand for fertilizer is very high, but what they want is the right quality and price.
According to Mr. Anh, there are many types of fertilizers on the market. He prioritizes choosing products with brands and reputation. For the new product, he suggested giving it a little in advance for farmers to experiment with, if they receive feedback, they will agree to distribute.
"I also prioritize the quality of fertilizer, not running at a percentage discount. If they are forced to use poor quality fertilizers, the agency itself will lose its reputation with farmers, said Mr. Vu Anh.

According to Mr. Tran Van Thanh - Deputy Director of the National Fertilizer Testing Center, crops need to be fertilized to supplement nutrients for growth and development.
However, during the use of fertilizers, heavy metal accumulation may occur, depending on the production method, raw materials and additives used. Cadimi is of the most interest because it is a very toxic metal, and phosphate has been shown to be a major source of Cadimi in agricultural cultivation.
To prevent and reduce Cadimi, Mr. Thanh recommends that farmers apply many synchronous solutions: Control soil pH, fertilize and balance each stage, use standard fertilizers with low Cadimi content...
Fertilizer manufacturing enterprises need to strictly control input materials, choose sources with low Cadimi and chloride content...
Mr. Thanh proposed that the management agency add Cadimi to the mixed fertilizer quality standards NPK, NP, PK...
