The incident of female student H.T.H, (grade 8 student in Thuong Ha commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province) being lured by teacher N.V.A, who teaches Math - believe in love, and having sex caused H. to be 12 weeks pregnant with many problems. From a medical perspective, weighing the options for handling this case makes doctors (BS) worried.
Keeping the child will make both mother and child suffer
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Ba Nha - Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Bach Mai Hospital, perhaps the first factor to consider depends on the decision of the 8th grade female student and her family. Pregnancy at the age of 14 will affect the future of both mother and baby.
Dr. Ba Nha said that in this case, it is necessary to be cautious when holding or abandoning the child, because if weighed, the health risks of these two options are equal.
"In my personal opinion, in the case of an 8th grade female student being lured into sex by a teacher leading to pregnancy, keeping the child is not advisable. Because a child is born unintentionally, the result of sexual abuse when the mother is too young. The female student has not yet calculated the plan to raise a child, the future of the mother is too long" - Dr. Ba Nha expressed his opinion.
According to Dr. Nha, the only thing that has affected the fetus is that the fetus is 12 weeks old. Therefore, all decisions need to be final as the fetus grows.
"Aparting from the baby is heartbreaking. Therefore, in this case, no matter what decision is made, it is an unwanted decision. However, we need to accept the option where the interests of female students are greater than the risks" - Dr. Ba Nha analyzed.
Need for a consultation council
Dr. Nguyen Thu Giang - Deputy Director of the Institute for Community Health Development said that Dr. Nguyen Thu Giang could not propose a plan for a fetus. Whether or not a child is kept or not is considered for benefits and risks. If the benefits are greater than the risks, children will be considered for detention and vice versa. The decisive decision must rely on the female student - the mother and family.
"From a medical perspective, the 8th grade female student is not physically and mentally enough to be a mother. But I am very haunted and regretful if my advice affects a girl's whole life. There have been friends who have had miscarriages at a young age, and later suffered from mental illness, or committed suicide due to depression" - Dr. Thu Giang said.

According to Dr. Thu Giang, whether you keep or abandon your fetus or not will have many consequences. Abortion has a primary impact on the mother's health. Unexpected complications, blood clots, serious infections, and even uterine removal or death may occur if not treated safely.
Regarding mental health, unexpected experiences in life will haunt both the mother and the doctor who has to intervene to resolve the consequences.
On the contrary, contraception is equally dangerous. At 14, how will the baby become a mother? Not to mention the risk of premature birth, miscarriage, stillbirth, or children born with malnutrition and disabilities.
" Place it on the scale, it's true that you can't keep it, you can't give it up. No matter how you handle it, it is unwanted treatment" - Dr. Thu Giang said.
Moreover, the gestational age has passed the trimester for abortion, so careful analysis support is needed to make a decision that is not too late.
Dr. Thu Giang suggested that in complicated cases like this, it is necessary to establish a consultation council including obstetricians, psychologists, social experts and legal advice to assess the situation and make the most appropriate assessment of how to resolve the situation.
