On June 8, Permanent Vice Chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Thanh directed to strengthen the management of mineral exploitation activities in the province.
According to Mr. Thanh, in recent times, mineral exploitation activities in Binh Dinh have had many positive changes, especially in the supply of materials for the construction of the North - South expressway. The licensing work has been strictly implemented, contributing to ensuring timely material sources for projects using State capital.

In the first 5 months of 2025, the province's revenue from mineral exploitation is estimated at about 120 billion VND, making an important contribution to the local socio-economic development.
Currently, all mines in the area have been installed with surveillance camera systems. Of which, 60/85 mines have been connected to a camera system with the function of measuring the number of vehicles entering and leaving, 50 mine points have installed weighing stations, contributing to gradually putting management into order.
However, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh found that mineral management still has limitations. Some places still have cases of exploitation exceeding the licensed scope and boundaries; using minerals for the wrong purpose; exploitation affecting the environment, especially during transportation and the delay in returning land to restore the environment at mines serving the North - South expressway project. The coordination between functional agencies and local governments is still not tight and not highly effective.

To overcome the above situation, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh requested localities to direct the Working Group to urgently review and inspect mineral mines in the area. From there, specifically identify the mining locations: Exhausted mines must have procedures to close mines, restore the environment; remaining reserves, continue exploitation; mines are completing procedures to apply for licenses, lease land... and strictly handle violations.
Assign staff to regularly monitor the surveillance camera system connected from the exploitation areas to promptly detect, rectify and remotely prevent violations.
"The People's Committee of Hoai An district urgently reports and proposes to the Provincial People's Committee a plan to completely handle the mines that have been auctioned for mineral exploitation rights but cannot be implemented, and at the same time take measures to prevent from a distance to avoid mineral hot spots.
The People's Committee of Quy Nhon City directs functional departments and communes and wards to inspect, monitor and handle thoroughly, with sufficient deterrence to prevent illegal mineral exploitation in the area east of Hon Cha Mountain", Mr. Thanh requested.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Dinh province assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and localities to inspect, review, and add common construction material mines to the mineral planning, in order to prepare materials for key projects to be implemented such as the Quy Nhon - Pleiku Expressway, the North - South railway, the province's administrative center...
The provincial police directed forces to grasp the situation, coordinate with local authorities to promptly rectify and handle violations in mineral exploitation activities, especially in key areas such as Tay Son district, Hoai An district and Hon Cha mountain area (Quy Nhon city).
