Heavy rain, landslides cut off mountainous areas of Da Nang
On the morning of October 26, heavy rain over a wide area caused a series of roads in the highlands of Da Nang to collapse, causing traffic congestion.
In Tra Tap commune, the inter-commune route from Tra Tap Commune Police to Tra Cang (old area) has many sections of rock and soil spilling onto the road; National Highway 40B through the 5-storey Waterfall area has a large landslide. DH3 route in Tak Nang - Tong Pua (village 3, Tra Tap) had its embankment peeled off, the temporary bridge to Tra Lien was flooded and damaged. At km84+700 QL14E (through Hiep Duc), mud and trees cover the road surface, at risk of continuing to slide due to un stopped rain.



Mr. Vu The Hiep - Vice Chairman of Phuoc Hiep Commune People's Committee - said: "The amount of landslides is very large, we have been forced to block the road, blocking both ends to ensure safety. Currently, there are 33 isolated households, the locality is mobilizing temporary food support forces and closely monitoring the situation".
Local authorities have advised people to absolutely not move through the dangerous area until it is completely cleared.
At the same time, the amount of water flowing into the hydroelectric reservoirs increased rapidly: Tranh 2 River increased by 2m, Dak Mi 4 increased by 2m, A Vuong increased by 1.1m in just 24 hours. The factories have simultaneously operated to regulate from the morning of October 26 to cut floodwaters downstream, keeping the lake water level at a safe level.


Dozens of households urgently evacuated
In Tra Leng commune, very heavy rain caused serious landslides on route DH1 (village 4) with about 1,500m3 of rock and soil, route D1K8 was completely blocked; Den Pin residential area (village 3) could not be used. The Leng River rises, threatening the embankment of Tra Leng 2 Primary School; the commune sports area is heavily eroded, the slope fence collapses.
Mr. Ho Van Mai (village 4, Tra Leng commune) said: "Never in the past year has there been so much rain and landslides as this year. Soil and rocks keep falling down, my family had to move from last night to the village cultural house to avoid the flood.
Up to now, Tra Leng commune has evacuated 51 households/163 people to safe places; Tra My has evacuated 42 households/200 people at 5 points at high risk of landslides.



The leader of Tra Leng commune said: "We are on duty 24/7, put up warning signs, and arrange teachers to be on duty to keep 35 boarding students from leaving. The top priority is to ensure the safety of people's lives."
Tra Tap and Tra Leng communes have also announced that students will have a day off on Monday (October 27) to ensure safety.
According to the Central Hydrometeorological Station, in the next 2448 hours, Da Nang mountainous communes will continue to have very heavy rain, with common rainfall of 200400mm, some places over 500mm, with a high risk of flash floods and landslides in the mountainous areas of the West and Northwest of the city.
