Regarding the fire that occurred on the afternoon of October 7, in the basement of B4 of Saigon Centre shopping mall, Ho Chi Minh City, a representative of the Building Management Board said that the incident was detected early and controlled after only 7 minutes, without causing widespread damage.

According to the representative of the Saigon Centre Building Management Board: "On-site forces discovered smoke and fire rising from a car during the patrol. As soon as we discovered it, we sent out an alarm signal, activated the automatic fire fighting system, and reported it to the Ho Chi Minh City Fire Police Department Center via the interconnection system. The handling steps were implemented according to the correct procedure, moving the two vehicles next to it and extinguishing the fire after 7 minutes. There were no human casualties and no impact on the structure of the project".

Working with the Saigon Centre Management Board, the BMW owner said that the vehicle had just been technically maintained and the electrical system had been inspected not long before. After the incident, the vehicle owner coordinated with the building and the insurance company to determine the cause, and extracted camera data and scene records provided by the Management Board to serve the verification process.

A representative of Saigon Centre said that after the fire was controlled, the entire B4 tunnel area was isolated and cleaned, and the technical power system was completely restored. The business of the shopping mall is going on normally, without affecting visitors.

Earlier, at around 4:10 p.m.the same day, smoke and fire suddenly rose from the basement of a 4-seat BMW car parked in tunnel B4, about 10 meters from the elevator area.The security force and building staff quickly used CO2, powder, and sand bottles to control the fire.

Some supporters used beng saws to break the windshield, coordinating to put out the fire inside the vehicle.The automatic fire fighting system also activates and sprays water to cool when the smoke detector detects it.After about 7 minutes, the fire was completely extinguished.

The incident did not cause any casualties. The cause of the fire is being clarified by the authorities and the insurance unit.
