On the morning of October 7, at Ya Wan Hong Industrial (HK) Limited - a paper and cardboard manufacturing company located in Vinh Lai commune, Hai Phong city, dozens of workers were upset because they could not sign labor contracts and were given home leave with 70% of basic salary without prior notice, leading to collective work stoppages. A worker in the packaging team said that this situation makes workers feel insecure and upset, and also affects production activities.
Immediately after receiving the information, local authorities and commune police were present at the company to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of workers and support in resolving the problem.
The representative of Ya Wan Hong Industrial Company then issued an official notice to the workers. Accordingly, based on the actual production situation, to ensure that the production plan is arranged appropriately and maintain stable operations, the team leaders will flexibly arrange for some workers to temporarily take a break and rotate with each other.
During the leave, employees with annual leave will be deducted according to the remaining number of days off. For employees who have completed their leave, the company will provide subsidies according to the provisions of the labor law. The company affirmed that it will not fire unreasonable employees.
When the production plan returns to normal, the company will announce specific working hours. During the leave, the company only pays allowances according to the provisions of the Labor Law. The employees' salaries will be paid on the 15th of each month; in special cases, the company will notify the employees directly.
A representative of the Trade Union Working Committee (Hai Phong City Labor Federation) said that on the afternoon of October 7, they will send staff to directly grasp the situation and work with businesses to find appropriate solutions.
