Passenger car crashes into the rear of a tractor-trailer that is having an accident on the highway, killing the assistant driver.

On the afternoon of September 8, information from the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of the Ministry of Public Security said that at about 6 am on the same day, a 24-seater passenger car collided with a tractor-trailer that was having an incident on the highway, killing an assistant driver on the spot.

According to the Traffic Police Department, the accident occurred at Km199+200 of the Ninh Binh - Hanoi expressway, in Chuong Duong commune, Hanoi city.

At the above time, a 24-seater passenger car with license plate 36H-084. xx driven by Mr. L.X. T (born in 1976, residing in Thanh Hoa) was traveling in the direction of Ninh Binh - Hanoi.

When reaching Km199+200, the passenger car collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer with license plate 86C-094. xx pulling semi-trailer 86R-009. xx, driven by Mr. N.Q. T (born in 1990, residing in Lam Dong).

According to initial information, before the collision, the tractor-trailer had a tire burst and was moving slowly to enter the emergency stop lane. Journey monitoring data shows that this vehicle was moving at a speed of about 22km/h.

The accident caused Mr. H.V.T (born in 1989, residing in Thanh Hoa) - a passenger bus assistant, to die on the spot.

Immediately after the accident occurred, functional forces were present at the scene, organizing traffic diversion, ensuring traffic, examining the scene and investigating the cause of the incident.

The Investigation Police Agency of Hanoi City Police is continuing to investigate and handle according to regulations.

According to the Traffic Police Department, through initial verification, the preliminary cause was determined to be that the passenger car driver did not pay attention to observation, did not maintain a safe distance, leading to a collision with the rear of the tractor-trailer.

From the accident, the Traffic Police Department recommends that vehicle drivers on the expressway maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front, ensuring sufficient time and space to handle when the vehicle in front slows down, brakes suddenly or encounters problems.

When the weather, road surface or visibility are not favorable, drivers need to proactively reduce speed and increase safety distance; focus on observing, especially paying attention to vehicles that are slowing down, changing lanes, encountering problems or moving into the emergency stop lane.

When detecting a vehicle having problems in front, the driver needs to actively reduce speed, maintain distance and only change lanes when safety is ensured, absolutely do not steer suddenly.

Drivers also do not use phones or perform distractions while driving.

According to the Traffic Police Department, on highways, vehicles often move at high speeds, so just a few seconds of lack of observation or too short a distance can make the driver unable to handle the situation in time.
