Ba Ria - Vung Tau - Banh mi - xoi shop that caused food poisoning for hundreds of people in Vung Tau was fined 125 million VND and suspended for 5 months.

On December 4, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province decided to administratively sanction Ms. N.T.T.T (born in 1982, owner of the banh mi - xoi establishment Co Ba Ben Dinh).

According to the penalty, this facility committed 4 administrative violations in production and business activities, including: food production process not following the one-way principle from input materials to final products; using people to directly process food without using gloves when in contact with food; doing business without a certificate of food safety; selling food that caused poisoning to 5 or more people without criminal prosecution.

Accordingly, the total administrative fine for all 4 violations was 125 million VND and the production and business of this facility was suspended for 5 months.

The owner of this facility is responsible for recalling the consumed food from the market; destroying the food. At the same time, he is responsible for the costs of handling food poisoning; examining and treating the poisoned person.

Previously, the provincial Department of Health reported on the incident at the Co Ba Ben Dinh banh mi - xoi shop, which was a food poisoning incident caused by microorganisms (Salmonella spp, Escherichia coli) that resulted in 342 cases with symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and fatigue. There was 1 death suspected to be related to food poisoning.
