On September 8, during excavation and taking biological samples for DNA testing at Que Hiep Martyrs' Cemetery, Que Son Trung commune, Da Nang city, functional forces discovered a wallet and many images at an unidentified grave.
The artifacts were found at grave number 179, area B, row 11.
Immediately after the discovery, the task force recorded the current situation, preserved the wallet and images; and took biological samples, sealed them, and handed them over to specialized agencies for DNA testing, verification and information comparison.
The remaining artifacts in the tomb are expected to become important clues, contributing to identifying the identity, hometown and searching for relatives of the martyr after many years of unknown names.
Que Son Trung commune currently manages 5 martyrs' cemeteries with a total of 2,472 graves. Of which, 1,646 graves have not been identified, it is necessary to excavate and take biological samples for DNA testing.
To date, the locality has coordinated to take samples from more than 1,100 graves, and more than 500 graves have not been implemented. Task forces are speeding up progress, striving to complete before September 15.
Sampling, preservation of artifacts and tomb information are carried out strictly, in order to contribute to identifying and bringing unknown martyrs back to their families.
