During the excavation and sampling of martyrs' remains at Dai Chanh Martyrs' Cemetery, Phu Thuan commune, Da Nang city, functional forces discovered a relic clearly engraved with information about a martyr.
The artifact was found at grave number 345, row 1, area B4. The engraved content on the artifact reads: "Nguyen Toan Quyen, born 1954, CB72 unit, sacrificed on November 27, 1972".
This information is an important basis for functional agencies to continue reviewing dossiers, verifying units, hometowns, combat and sacrifice processes, and searching for relatives of martyr Nguyen Toan Quyen.
Currently, Phu Thuan commune has 4 martyrs' cemeteries including Dai Tan, Dai Thanh, Dai Thang and Dai Chanh, with nearly 2,900 graves. Of which, more than 1,600 graves have not been identified.
To date, the locality has coordinated to organize excavations and sample collection of nearly 1,200 graves. More than 750 biological samples ensure conditions for DNA testing.
From the information on the artifacts, the Da Nang City Military Command continues to coordinate with relevant agencies, units and localities to compare dossiers and verify information. Propaganda work is also being promoted to find relatives and comrades of martyrs.
Accurate identification will contribute to returning the name to martyr Nguyen Toan Quyen, meeting the wishes of the family after many years of waiting.
The Da Nang City Military Command requests veterans, comrades, relatives or individuals who know information related to martyr Nguyen Toan Quyen to contact the Da Nang City Military Command or the Phu Thuan Commune Military Command to provide information and coordinate verification.
