On April 20, implementing the "Operation 500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains", the Team for Searching and Repatriating Martyrs' Remains of Division 968 (Military Region 4) deployed forces to search for martyrs' remains in the Northeast area, peak 288 in Hieu Giang commune (Quang Tri province).

Through the process of organizing surveys and grasping local information, the force discovered and exhumed 1 set of martyrs' remains in this area.
The remains were found in the combat bunker, at a depth of about 0.7m. The bones were shattered into many small pieces, some of which had decomposed.
The accompanying artifacts included 1 bunker, 1 cylinder, 2 B52 rice bowls, parachute cords, information cords and 1 AK submachine gun that had been oxidized.

Initial information shows that the martyr may belong to Battalion 3, Regiment 27, Front B5, who sacrificed in the period 1970 - 1971 when participating in combat at Hill 544 (Fulo Hill).
Currently, martyrs' remains are being managed by the Search and Repatriation Team of Division 968 in the area where they were discovered. The unit continues to expand the search scope, and at the same time coordinates with functional agencies to inspect, verify, and compare information to serve the work of identifying martyrs.
