On January 6, information from Lang Son Provincial Museum said that the unit had just discovered a fossil crocodile specimen dating back about 35 - 40 million years in Na Duong, Loc Binh.
Accordingly, on January 4, Lang Son Provincial Museum conducted a survey, excavation and collected a number of paleontological specimens in the Na Duong depression, an area managed by Na Duong Coal Company.
During this survey, the Provincial Museum discovered for the first time a unique fossil crocodile specimen.
According to initial assessments, the specimens were determined to be about 35 - 40 million years old.

After consideration, experts decided to use the plaster casting method to preserve the original state of the specimen before excavating and bringing it to the provincial museum.
Here, experts will continue research to clarify the species and distribution of specimens, while serving conservation and display work.
After the survey, the Provincial Museum planned to continue to coordinate with Na Duong Coal Company to research and collect more valuable paleontological specimens.
