The People's Committee of Quang Tri province held a ceremony to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day on June 21 (1925 - 2025) and awarded the 8th Quang Tri Provincial Press Award on the evening of June 13.
Speaking at the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, Mr. Nguyen Long Hai - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee praised and congratulated the achievements and results of the press and the team of journalists in Quang Tri province in recent times. At the same time, he acknowledged and respectfully thanked the positive contributions of central press agencies and reporters residing in the province in ideological work, orientation of public opinion, propaganda, timely reflection of political events, socio-economic activities, national defense - security, Party building and the political system of the province.
At the ceremony, Quang Tri province awarded certificates to 23 winning works, including: 6 A prizes, 8 B prizes, 9 C prizes.
In particular, reporter Lam Hung Tho - Lao Dong Newspaper was awarded the B prize for the series of articles "14 roads in a town in Quang Tri have not been connected to National Highway 1 for 6 years due to BOT toll station".
The above series of articles reflects the case of 14 roads in Ai Tu town (Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province) that have been under construction for many years, but have not been connected to National Highway 1A. The reason for not being connected is that Truong Thinh Group Joint Stock Company - the investor of the BOT road project through Trieu Phong district has not agreed to supplement the connection plan. The investor of the BOT road project believes that if the routes are connected, vehicles will avoid the BOT toll station, affecting the investor's ability to recover capital.
However, research by Lao Dong Newspaper shows that not connecting all 14 routes not only causes serious waste, affecting people's travel, but also violates regulations, because there are up to 12 routes that were formed before BOT toll stations.
After receiving feedback, Quang Tri province has directed the People's Committee of Trieu Phong district to complete procedures and documents to connect the routes to propose to relevant units to allow connections.
