Through inspection, the authorities determined that this was Sa Nhan turtle (scientific name Cuora mouhotii), a rare species of turtle on the land, belonging to group IIB in the list of endangered and rare species with priority protection. The turtle weighed about 1kg and was in stable health.
The commune police have handed over the turtles to the Phong Nha commune People's Committee to carry out rescue procedures according to regulations.
After that, this individual will be transferred to the Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Creatures of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park for care, nurturing and release back into the wild.
