On January 16, information from the Department of Transport of Hoa Binh province said that the police had just discovered a strange object at the foot of Hoa Binh bridge.
Accordingly, at around 4:45 p.m. on January 15, Hoa Binh Provincial Police discovered about 10 objects suspected to be artillery shells under the T8 pillar of Hoa Binh Bridge while patrolling.
The incident occurred when the authorities were pursuing a subject using electric shock to catch fish, and while diving to salvage the evidence, they discovered these objects.
According to a report from Hoa Binh Transport Construction Joint Stock Company, the objects were about 60cm long and 40cm in diameter and were discovered at the foot of the bridge's T8 pillar. Due to the high water level of the river, detailed observation was difficult.
To ensure safety for construction works, people and vehicles participating in traffic, the Department of Transport of Hoa Binh province has proposed that the Provincial People's Committee direct the Provincial Military Command to urgently inspect, determine the level of danger and take appropriate handling measures.
In addition, the Department also recommended a comprehensive inspection of other important bridges such as Huu Nghi Bridge and Thong Nhat Bridge to prevent risks from remaining explosive objects.
Currently, the authorities are working closely to verify and handle the case.
Hoa Binh Bridge is an important bridge of the mountainous province of Hoa Binh, connecting the two banks of the Da River, contributing greatly to economic and social development.
