On November 1, Chairman of Hai Van Ward People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Dung said that the ward leaders visited, encouraged and presented gifts to support households affected by floods; At the same time, he suddenly rewarded people for their brave actions in saving people in the fierce floods.
During the recent heavy rain, many roads and residential areas in Hai Van ward were deeply flooded, causing difficulties and dangers to people traveling, many people suffered from floods. In that situation, Mr. Tran Dinh Chien - Truong Dinh group (Hai Van ward) did not take any danger and bravely saved people twice.
At 4:00 a.m. on October 28, Mr. Chien was sleeping when he heard a cry for help, and ran out to see when he discovered a woman and a motorbike stuck while passing through the fast-flowing water. He asked for more support and promptly took people and vehicles to the house to take safety shelter.
The second time was around 3:30 p.m. on October 29, Mr. Chien discovered a group of people whose boat capsized away. In the midst of the floodwaters flowing as high as a person's head, without a single second of thinking, Mr. Chien alone wore a life jacket and quickly rowed a boat to the emergency rescue area. Thanks to that, luck was able to rescue 4 people struggling in the floodwaters.
On behalf of local leaders, Chairman of Hai Van Ward People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Dung presented certificates of merit and awards to commend the spirit of courage to save people of Mr. Tran Dinh Chien.
On this occasion, the ward leaders also visited each flooded area to give support gifts to the people. For cases of elderly people who are unable to walk, the Chairman of the Ward People's Committee visits each family to give gifts.
In this period, Hai Van ward presented 30 gifts to households in difficult circumstances affected by floods, with an amount of 15 million VND. The funding source is sponsored by the ward leaders in connection with benefactors and philanthropists.
