Dak R'lap district currently has about 23,970 households. Of these, 3,104 households are ethnic minorities. In recent years, it is easy to see that in 11 communes and towns in Dak R'lap district, the material and spiritual life of the people has been significantly improved.
Mr. Chong Huu Vinh - a resident of Quang Tin commune (Dak R'lap district) - said that in the past, roads to move to villages, hamlets, and local production areas were extremely difficult.
The local roads are mostly dirt roads with steep passes, so in the dry season, dust flies everywhere, and in the rainy season, they are muddy, and many vehicles are "paralyzed" and cannot move. During the rainy season, only motorbikes with chains or farm vehicles and tractors can move.
According to Mr. Vinh, in recent years, all levels of the province, district and commune have combined many different sources of capital with contributions from the people to upgrade traffic infrastructure, schools, village halls, etc.
Currently, the most obvious change is that many rural, inter-commune, inter-district traffic routes with the center of Quang Tin commune have been invested in asphalt and concrete, creating convenience for people to travel.
"Since the roads became more convenient, the transportation of fertilizers, agricultural products... by people has become more efficient, and people's lives have become more prosperous than before" - Mr. Chong Huu Vinh, a resident of Quan Tin commune, happily said.
Ms. Vo Thi Kieu Linh - Vice Chairman of Dak R'lap District People's Committee - said that under the leadership and direction of the Party Committee and authorities at all levels, people in the district have strived to compete in labor and production, pushing back poverty and backward customs, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.
Therefore, up to now, most people no longer have the mindset of waiting for support from the State. People of all ethnic groups in the district have proactively overcome difficulties and promoted economic development in many forms.
In agricultural production, people have known how to exploit the advantages and potentials of climate and land, boldly transformed crop structure and applied scientific and technical advances in production, thus bringing high economic efficiency.
In particular, it is encouraging that the productivity of key fruit trees and industrial crops such as mangosteen, durian, cashew, coffee, pepper, rubber... have all increased sharply compared to before.
"Therefore, with the synchronous and timely implementation of policies, especially with the constant efforts of ethnic minorities, people's lives are increasingly improved" - Vice Chairman of Dak R'lap District People's Committee Vo Thi Kieu Linh added.
According to statistics from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Dak R'lap district, in recent times, sustainable poverty reduction work in Dak R'lap district has been implemented drastically and synchronously and achieved many positive results.
By the end of 2023, the whole district still had 468 poor households (1,836 people). Of which, the number of poor households among ethnic minorities was 161 households (765 people).
