On November 21, Lieutenant General Pham Duc Duyen - Political Commissar of Military Region 2 - signed Decision No. 2124/QD-QK on rewarding achievements in performing the task of searching and rescuing drowning students in Zone 1, Hien Quan commune, Tam Nong district, Phu Tho province.
According to the decision, 2 groups and 15 individuals were commended for actively participating in the search and rescue mission of the drowning students mentioned above.
Previously, after the incident of 5 students drowning and going missing in Hien Quan commune, on the afternoon of November 18, the Phu Tho Provincial Military Command urgently mobilized nearly 100 officers and soldiers from agencies, units and local militia and self-defense forces along with vehicles and equipment to quickly search and rescue.
By the morning of November 20, authorities had found the bodies of five missing eighth-grade students who had drowned.
According to the decision of Military Region 2, the list of awarded collectives includes the Military Command of Phu Tho province and the Military Command of Tam Nong district - Military Command of Phu Tho province.
