The high traffic volume passing through Thanh Nien Street in Dung Quat Economic Zone with high density is one of the reasons for the road surface being plowed down and severely damaged.
On this section of more than 1km, many "potholes" have appeared, making it difficult to move and posing a potential risk of traffic accidents at any time.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, living along Thanh Nien road, shared: Previously, this road was very beautiful but now it has seriously degraded. During the rainy season, each strong acceleration by heavy truck drivers causes water from the holes in the middle of the road to splash, causing potholes to widen.
This is also the route leading to Khe Hai sea, Rang sea, but the poor road condition has limited visitors to the beautiful beaches of their hometown.

To limit the speed of vehicles passing, people had to place items such as beer bins, wooden chairs, and foam in the middle of the road. Mr. Doan Cong Luyen, in Binh Son commune, said that after the asphalt road surface was peeling, the authorities only poured stone to temporarily provide coining. However, the road is increasingly damaged, dusty in the dry season, and many places are flooded during the rainy season.
"Heavy trucks traveling on this road have caused many accidents. When it is sunny, dust flies everywhere, but when it rains, flooding makes motorcyclists more susceptible to potholes and falls. We have repeatedly recommended early upgrading and repairing to make travel more convenient, while connecting trade with Da Nang City and developing marine tourism," said Mr. Luyen.
According to drivers, due to the serious deterioration of the road, many people had to switch to National Highway 1 instead of Thanh Nien route to Chu Lai airport. Mr. Pham Thanh Huy, a passenger driver, lamented: "The road is only about 1km long but it took me more than 20 minutes to get through."
Ms. Vo Thi Hien - Chairman of Binh Son Commune People's Committee - said that the commune leaders have directly surveyed and confirmed that Thanh Nien road is severely damaged. The locality has recommended that the authorities soon arrange funds for repairs and upgrades, while strengthening traffic management and strictly handling violations of load and speed.
According to the Management Board of Dung Quat Economic Zone and Industrial Parks of Quang Ngai province, the above route has been handed over to the Management Board of the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
The People's Committee of Quang Ngai province has allocated 150 billion VND for the Thanh Nien road upgrade project, the section from Doc Soi to Chu Lai border. It is expected that the project will be bid in the third quarter of 2025 and start construction in the fourth quarter of 2025.
