On August 14, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province announced that the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee had just sent a document to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Construction on supporting VND2,350 billion from the central budget for the locality to invest in upgrading and expanding National Highway 24, the main route connecting the eastern and western areas of Quang Ngai province.
National Highway 24 is the only traffic route connecting the old Quang Ngai and Kon Tum provinces and the route connecting the new Quang Ngai with the Central Highlands and provinces in the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia development triangle region.
In the context of increasing demand for transportation, goods circulation and travel, if we wait for capital allocation in the medium-term plan for the 2026-2030 period or wait for the Quang Ngai - Kon Tum expressway project, it will be too slow, not solving urgent needs, especially the travel needs of the people, causing waste of opportunities for socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the area, the western border of the province...
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province affirmed: "Investing and upgrading National Highway 24 (Km 32-Km 89+515) is extremely necessary and urgent."
Due to many difficulties in the Quang Ngai provincial budget, the Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee proposed that the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Construction consider and report to the Prime Minister to agree to support VND2,350 billion from the central budget in addition to the medium-term public investment plan for the 2026-2030 period.
