Many public investment project construction sites in Quang Ngai province are entering an acceleration phase when the weather is favorable but the price of construction stone is "slow".
In recent months, the price of 1x2 construction stone at many mines has increased to 320,000-500,000 VND/m3. Compared to the same period last year, this price has increased by nearly 60%.
According to Mr. Pham Viet Ha - Deputy Director of Quang Ngai Provincial Department of Construction, the whole province has 730 construction material mine areas, including 176 stone mines, 227 sand mines and 327 filling soil mines, with a total reserve of about 700 million m3.
Currently, each year the mines supply about 16 million m3 of construction materials of all kinds to the market. The main reason for the shortage of materials in the past time is that many projects are being implemented at the same time, causing demand to increase sharply. Meanwhile, the forecasting work in some investors is not close to reality.

The process of auctioning and licensing exploitation is still prolonged. Many businesses after winning the auction are slow to complete procedures or have limited exploitation capacity. The coordination of supply between localities and investors is also sometimes not timely.
Also according to Mr. Ha, the construction material market is experiencing many fluctuations, affected by strong demand, while supply capacity at some points has not kept up.
Faced with this situation, Quang Ngai put 58 mineral mines up for auction to solve the problem of material scarcity.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ngai province, the unit is receiving dossiers from asset auction organizations registering to participate in organizing auctions for the right to exploit 58 mineral mines for construction materials in the area.
Accordingly, the notice of selection of an organization practicing auctioning assets that are mineral exploitation rights was issued on July 31, the deadline for receiving dossiers is 5:00 PM on August 7, 2026.
The selected unit will organize the auction of mineral exploitation rights for 58 areas of minerals for ordinary construction materials belonging to groups III, IV. Including 19 sand mines, 32 filling soil mines, 6 rock mines and 1 clay mine for brick and tile, distributed in 34 communes and wards in the province.
All mines have been approved by the Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee for starting prices, price steps, deposit amounts, exploration project estimates and total investment by mid-July 2026.
Currently, Quang Ngai has 105 valid ordinary construction material mines. Recently, many large-scale infrastructure projects have been implemented in the province. Along with the increasing demand for materials from neighboring localities, a shortage of materials has occurred, pushing prices up and affecting the construction progress of many projects.
