Currently, Quang Ngai has more than 4,890 fishing vessels with a total capacity of 1.81 million CV; of which more than 2,900 vessels are over 15 m long, specializing in offshore fishing.
In 2025, the whole province exploited 280.4 thousand tons, equivalent to 104.9% of the set plan. Thanks to the consensus and cooperation of departments, branches, and organizations and the efforts of fishermen, the work of combating IUU fishing has achieved many positive changes.
Mr. Do Tam Hien - Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee said that in order for IUU fishing prevention to be effective, at the launching ceremonies at the beginning of the year, provincial leaders encouraged fishermen to emulate production, strengthen sticking to the sea, improve output and quality of exploitation, and strive to achieve the target of over 260,000 tons.
At the same time, the province requests to enhance responsibility for protecting sea and island sovereignty; identifying combating IUU fishing as an important, urgent and long-term political task for sustainable development of the fisheries sector.
