On April 16, Mr. Do Tam Hien - Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in the province.
According to a report by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, as of April 10, 2026, the total number of fishing vessels in the province is 4,859 vessels, 100% of fishing vessels have been registered and updated to VNFishbase. 100% of operating fishing vessels have been licensed. 81 fishing vessels do not meet the conditions for issuing or renewing licenses.
Regarding tracing the origin of domestically exploited seafood products, the total exploitation output has been issued receipts of 399 tons; the number of receipts issued is 86 certificates.
9 ships have been detected losing connection for 6 hours, losing connection for more than 10 days at sea, exceeding the permitted exploitation boundaries; 6 ships have been handled, 3 ships have been fined for the act of exceeding the boundary, with a total amount of 500 million VND.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Environment coordinates with communes, wards, and special zones to organize training to transfer and guide professional skills, especially new contents that have been put into application recently.
Strictly manage groups of high-risk fishing vessels violating IUU. Resolutely not allow fishing vessels that do not meet the conditions to leave port, strictly handle and publicize IUU violations.
