According to the report of the Steering Committee 389 of Quang Ninh province, closely following the direction of the Government, the Prime Minister, the National Steering Committee 389, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Steering Committee 389 issued Plan No. 136/KH-BCĐ389 dated November 5, 2025 on the peak period of combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, which clearly defines the tasks and responsibilities of each sector and each locality.
Implementing this plan, in the period from November 5, 2025 to January 26, 2026, functional forces discovered and handled 871 violations, with a total value of violating goods of 26.2 billion VND.
Compared to the same period in 2025, the number of violations increased by 26%, and the value of violating goods increased by 280%.
During the peak period, thanks to the drastic involvement and close coordination of functional forces, the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods achieved many positive results, contributing to stabilizing the market and protecting consumer rights during Tet.
Specifically, the Provincial Border Guard Command arrested and handled 41 cases with 47 subjects, the value of violating goods was 5.9 billion VND. Sub-Department of Customs Region VIII discovered and handled 143 cases, worth 2.3 billion VND. Provincial Police handled 193 cases, worth 11 billion VND. Market Management forces inspected and handled 250 cases, the value of violating goods was 7.4 billion VND.
Over the past time, the situation of trading, transporting, and consuming counterfeit goods, smuggled goods, goods infringing intellectual property rights and food safety in the province has been basically controlled. However, the risk of complicated developments is still latent, especially in business activities through social networks, e-commerce platforms and transporting goods from other localities into the province.
Besides the achieved results, the work of preventing and combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods still faces many difficulties. The main reasons are increased consumer demand during Tet; subjects taking advantage of the complex border terrain, sea routes and e-commerce to violate; functional forces are still thin; some sanctions are not strong enough to deter.
From now until the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year, sectors, functional forces and local authorities in the province will continue to proactively exchange and share information, coordinate to strengthen surprise inspections, strictly control, promptly detect and strictly handle violations according to the provisions of law.
