In recent days, the matter of English teachers at Nguyen Van Cu Elementary School, Quy Nhon Nam ward, Gia Lai province correcting students' papers has received public attention.
The matter had not subsided when a Literature teacher at To Hien Thanh High School (Thanh Hoa) arbitrarily corrected 126 exam scores of a series of 11th and 12th grade students in the direction of raising scores compared to actual test scores.

Behind the story of teachers correcting students' lessons for any purpose or reason, the result is that the teacher herself has lost the trust of parents and society.
As a teacher with 38 years of experience in the education sector, formerly a homeroom teacher, teacher Nguyen Van Luc (former teacher of Trinh Phong Secondary School, Dien Khanh, Khanh Hoa) shared that once he proactively asked the subject teacher to raise the score so that students could be ranked as excellent students at the end of the school year.
This is a 9th grade class monitor student that Mr. Luc used to tutor. When he learned that this student's Biology grade point average was 7.9, just adding 0.1 would be enough for 8.0 - the excellent student level at that time (according to Circular 58/2011/TT-BGDĐT), he met and discussed with the Biology teacher, requesting to help raise the score so that he could become a good student, and she helped to do it impartially because she felt sorry for the student.
I asked my subject teacher to raise my score for the excellent student achievements of the class, students and parents absolutely did not ask for or ask for points and did not know anything about what I did" - teacher Luc recounted and expressed that after decades, he is still extremely concerned about the story of the past.
Ms. Ha - a secondary school teacher in Thanh Hoa said that in reality, there are still cases where homeroom teachers ask subject teachers to favor assessment scores for students, but it is very rare.
Usually, good students are obedient in their studies, but unfortunately, their carelessness in taking the exam makes the scores not fully reflect their abilities" - Ms. Ha said.
This teacher explained that this is entirely due to the teacher's initiative, most of the reasons are the pressure of achievement, the pressure of the number of excellent students, because if students have poor achievements, teachers will be criticized, reprimanded, and reduced in emulation,....
In fact, teachers' pressure for achievements does not only occur in 1 or 2 schools. The results of the International Survey on Teaching and Learning (TALIS) cycle 2024 announced by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) at the end of 2025 showed that 54% of teachers participating in the survey admitted to being under pressure for student achievements and curriculum changes. The sample representatives participating in the survey nationwide included 202 educational institutions in 58 provinces and cities, 202 principals and 4,410 teachers.
From the above results, the Ministry proposed many groups of solutions in the coming time, including reducing administrative burdens, increasing time for professional activities; spiritual support for young teachers,...
Both Ms. Ha and Mr. Luc admitted that, for whatever reason, intervening in students' assessment scores is a wrong act.
In fact, the inspection of the school board is very serious, but it is impossible to check the ethics of teachers when there is an impure intention" - Mr. Luc said.
In addition to the issue of ethics and responsibility of teachers, Ms. Ha expressed her desire that the education sector will have solutions to move towards real learning, real exams, and real assessment.
When the pressure of achievement and emulation decreases, teachers will be more focused on teaching" - Ms. Ha said.
