On May 20, at the Lao Bao - Den Sa Van International Border Gate, Quang Tri province coordinated with the two provinces of Savannakhet and Khammouane (Laos) to organize a ceremony to hand over and receive 28 sets of remains of martyrs who were Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed in Laos.
This is the number of remains searched, exhumed and collected by Team 584 and Team 589 of the Political Department, Quang Tri Provincial Military Command in the dry season 2025 - 2026 in 2 provinces of Savannakhet and Khammouane.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Le Van Bao - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Quang Tri Provincial Special Work Committee; Colonel Truong Nhu Y - Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, along with representatives of departments, branches, armed forces and a large number of local people.
Representatives of Sa Van Na Khet and Kham Muon provinces also attended with government leaders, Special Task Forces, armed forces and local people.

According to the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command, in the dry season of 2025 - 2026, despite facing many difficulties in terrain, weather and living conditions, officers and staff of Team 584 and Team 589 still persistently stick to the area, organizing searches in many dangerous mountainous forest areas.
In the process of performing tasks, the forces received active support from Party committees, authorities, armed forces and especially the affection and assistance of the Lao ethnic people in Sa Van Na Khet and Kham Muon provinces.
As a result, Team 584 collected 12 sets of martyrs' remains, Team 589 collected 16 sets of martyrs' remains, raising the total number of sets found and brought back to the country in this dry season to 28 cases.
At the ceremony, the Special Task Force of the three provinces signed the handover minutes of martyrs' remains. In a solemn atmosphere, delegates respectfully offered incense and flowers to commemorate, expressing deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and fulfilled their noble international duties.
Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, 28 sets of martyrs' remains were taken to Road 9 National Martyrs' Cemetery to take biological samples to serve the work of identifying identities according to regulations.
According to the plan, the funeral, memorial service and burial of martyrs' remains gathered in Laos in the dry season of 2025 - 2026 will take place on the morning of May 23 at the National Martyrs' Cemetery of Road 9, Quang Tri province.
